"The Devil's Castle" While touring in the Carpathian Mountains of Transylvania last June (2004), we were taken one day to visit Senesh Castle, a graceful, extravagant example of royal excess that today is carefully maintained as a popular tourist destination. As we donned felt booties and followed our guide up long stairways and along marble halls, my imagination got to work, visualizing the castle in a more sinister setting. (After all, this was Transylvania!) My sleep that night was troubled with dreams of this fantastic structure, its towering spires and forbidding turrets looming above a dark forest aflame! The image stayed with me, and the next morning, I made quick notes, knowing that an important painting would inevitably result. The Devil's Castle is one of my larger paintings, measuring nearly 28" high and 20" wide. I knew, when I finally added my signature to the finished painting, that it would warrant a full-sized Premiere Edition print, in addition to my customary Large Format and Medium Format sizes. The medium print size is 9.5" x 7.5", double matted (charcoal over a white liner), backed with rigid foam-core board, ready for framing in any readily available 14" x 11" frame. After I carefully inspect and sign your print, I'll slip it into its protective clear plastic envelope and carefully roll it for mailing to you, together with a page of helpful framing hints.
